Have a customer with a simple Linux server running samba that has a larger hard drive fitted (as a second disk) certain volumes have been moved across to it, one of which is the /home/ folder which contains everyones personal files & folders...

Now everyone can view/open/edit everyone elses files!

Is there a way i can easily/quickly recreate the security or am i going to have to do it all again individually for each user (as theres quite a few of them!)

    Hi Haydn
That happens to everybody sooner or later.:) Start a gui console or use <ctrl><alt><F1 to F6> As 'root' chdir to /home. Use the 'chmod' command to restrict permissions to owner-only for all directories.

chmod 700 * - don't forget the asterisk - that does 'em all!

    That's it - done :)
