I have a Fujitsu Laptop, 256MB Ram, 1Ghz processor on which I currently run Windows XP. If I were to run Linux on the same machine however would it run faster and smoother? I.e. does Linux use less system resources to run and hence can it 'bring back some vitality' to an old computer?

    Thanks, Alex. :D

That really depends on which Distro your use. 'Linux' runs very well on older systems. I would try the Knoppix 'Live CD' before you make any descisions on whether you put 'Linux' on the latop or not. Since it is a CD it will take time for it to load. This is the Knoppix Web Site Version 3.8.2 is the latest.
