Yeah... I'd like to have a terminal server set up on my linux box so i can access the computer elsewhere using the internet (not lan, so it MUST be secure). can anyone point me in a good direction? Thanks

You mean accessing a prompt? Set up Linux and if you're behind a firewall don't worry if you aren't run some iptables rules, run OpenSSH and ONLY allow SSHv2 if you want it to be secure because SSHv1 CAN be broken, what specificaly do you need help on?

Do you need info on Tweaking sshd? Security? etc. If you worry about security try freebsd 5.1 or OpenBSD (get the patches foo), OpenBSD has a good track record for security (One remote hole in the default install in 7 years) but it's very complex... FreeBSD is not so complex, so I recommend that, anything specific you need?

it's only that i'm a complete n00b when it comes to linux:p I've been sooooooooo windows server based the past couple years that i forgot everything and anything linux. Now i'm just rejuvinating the fun of linux.

anyway, i got opensshd installed and all. now i just need to configure it, then test it on a 2000 machine i conveniently have right next to me. Besides disabling sshd 1 support, anything else i should know about?

What distro? Have you run recent updates for your OS? Is OpenSSHD updated? etc. Give me info... Do you have another firewall? Firewall/software? How is it configured? When Security and UNIX get together I'm very enthusiastic :D :D
