loginui.exe (or whatever it's called)

my brother changed my login screen to some ugly one with dragons and stuff and i found out that it replaced the original loginui.exe (or whatever it's called) and i can't change it back. if anybody can find a way to fix it can they tell me? thx =)

 

Search your add/remove for any theme softwares,try uninstalling it.
Or do a search for logonui.exe on your computer and see if you can find a backup somewhere.

 

I did that. there are several copies of loginui but i don't know which one might be a backup. do you have any idea where a backup might be?

 

what are the file sizes and their folders?

 

here's the list

c:\WINDOWS\logonui.exe -- 2572kb
c:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\logonui.exe -- 493kb
c:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\logonui.exe -- 503kb

 

Well the original logonui.exe for windows xp sp2 is 503kb.It should be in windows\system32.If you do it wrong you could make your system unbootable.Backup the files.Rightclick the file properties>version>file version. should be 6.00.2900.2180

 

alright thanks soooo much. so i just stick it in my windows\system32 folder right?

 

so i just stick that file into the windows\system32 directory?
