    I use Pop-up stopper....

Stopping pop-ups is a tough deal....

We "hate" pop-ups. but on many of our favorite sites, it is the best way to pay the bills and keep the sites available to us all.
When we stop the pop-ups the sites lose revenue...

    Tough call, I know....

I use MyIE2 web browser. IMHO it has a pretty good pop-up blocker.

Smart Popup Killer and Bayden PopUpPopper are good ones. Started using the Smart Popup Killer.

The best pop-up blocker I have come across (and use) would have to be the Proxomitron. It has never failed to block pop-ups for me yet.
The attached shows some of its various functions. It is free and has alot of support sites on the web - do a search on google and you will see what I mean:D .

BTW, it may seem daunting at first, but after a few whacks at it, is extremely fun. It even has options to hide your browsers version from javascript and HTTP headers, block referrer cookies, and the list go's on;) .

Blocking HTTP headers, may cause downloads to fail on some sites, like ours. Personally, I would never disable Java, Dynamic HTML or cookies.

Many of these programs go overboard. Authors are not being honest with people and are taking advantage of peoples paranoia. IE, for example has many security settings to protect you. While I appreciate people looking into security because great tools come from it like spyware cleaners and firewalls, I dont appreciate programs that go overboard or simply do what your browser can do already.

If you want to surf the web, and be able to take advantage of whats out there, there will always be some risk, thats for sure. I have been surfing the web since Delphi and that was text\DOS based and much prefer to use the new technologies. I have never had a problem due to cookies, dynamic html or any other interactivity. Then again, I dont surf porn and pirated software or crack sites, so hey... ;)

Totally agree with you there Major Attitude:) .

But I wouldn't say that the Proxomitron is one of those programs that go overboard. I have never had any problems downloading from this site, or any other also. The choice is up to the user what to enable/allow or to disable/not allow. I find the Proxomitron comes in handy when visiting sites I am unsure of -I just enable the highest protection configuration setting in those instances. Saves changing all the various IE settings etc. Not that I don't have a tight IE/OE set-up.

Unfortunately there are alot of programs out there that are just as you say(bloatware). But all it takes is a little googling to see the reviews from users as to whether or not the program is usefull - never rely solely on what the author/s of these programs say about there own product;) .

    Regards, Jade.

    BTW, I don't visit porno or crack sites, but I am a nymphomaniac(joking:D ).
