Looking for opinions on free firewall & anti-virus programs.

Hello, I had an account here under justagirl82 but I can't remember my login and my old email account was closed when I changed ISP's so I had no way to get my login info. So, I registered again.

Anyhow, to my question. What combination of free firewall/anti-virus/anti-spyware/anti-malware programs have you found to be most successful for protection without slowing your computer down too much?

I was using Zone Alarm & Avast for a very long time, but have been experimenting recently.

Just looking for opionions.

Since our main focus in this forum is really malware removal and protection, we really cannot answer your question exactly since we are not really testing all combinations. Also how programs affect performance can be directly related to your PC specs. In particular how fast the process is, why type of processor, how much RAM, and what version of Windows you are running.

So I still suggest that you post in the Software Forum for more discussion on this but I will say the new versions of ZoneAlarm will slow you down much more than in the past. AVG8 is also more resource hungry than older versions of AVG.
