Loosing data

    having a problem with my data , turned my laptop on and some of it has disappeared , i use windows 7 and firefox and all my bookmarks have gone , also the music i downloaded and put on my desktop has disappeared , i downloaded everything again and i also bookmarks but when turned the laptop of and then back on they had all gone again , any help would be great , cheers Paul
