First off, I am not overly tech savvy.... :cry

I have a Netgear WNR2000 wireless router. Works fine... Last summer I bought an extender, Netgear WN2000RPTv2. Had some minor issues with connectivity, but it worked well overall with our wireless devices. Had not connected to the extender for a couple of months until trying today. Could not establish any connection between router and extender, even when placing both with 5 feet of each other. Can get on the 'net OK with my Ipad from the main router. And though it shows the extender present, I can't get on... Tried resetting it, as well as starting fresh on the setup front. Netgear support won't help without more $$$$ at this point... Any thoughts, or is it time to cut losses and get a new (different brand) extender...

    Thnx!!

One other thing.... When I use the Netgear genie to try to set things up, it does a search for available networks. My existing Wifi does not appear on the list.... I add it manually, etc but get nowhere... thnx

Still cannot get my extender to hook up with my main router.... though, oddly, it will connect to some neighbors security-less network...

    Any thoughts?

    Thnx

Start from square one, out of the box setup, for both devices. Have you also asked over at the Netgear forums regarding the two pieces of hardware not communicating with each other? This is the info from netgear.com how to setup the WN2000RPTv2 with your router http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21361 The one thing I would do, is turn off WPS on both.

Here is the manual for the WN2000RPTv2 http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/WN2000RPT_UM_05MAR2012.pdf
    Manual for WNR2000 http://support.netgear.com/search/wnr2000

You never mentioned which version of your WNR2000 that you had. That also does matter. Also if you are using MAC security, or have SSID turned off, that also matters, also with latest updates.
