Lost Control Of Display Properties But No Spy Sheriff- Need Help

    I recently had Spysheriff on my computer but i was able to remove it by following a thread I viewed on this website. However I am still having difficulty with display properties in my control panel.

    I cant reapply the background design i originally had before spy sheriffs "blue" disaster. When i go to control panel-> display-> desktop, and try to selct a background, it wont let me, like its locked or something.

    I have read and followed all of the steps in the "read me first thread" on How to: Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal. I downloaded and installed everything, and performed all of the scans.

    By the way i did it in normal mode because i had problems doing it in safe mode. Also just so you know, im using windows xp on a desktop pc, under a wireless network at home, the router is upstairs on my bros pc.

    Please help :confused:

    Try the below and see if it helps.

    Copy the contents of the below Quote Box to Notepad. Then click File and then Save As. Change the Save as Type to All Files. Name the file fixadt.reg and then click save. (make sure you save it somewhere you can find it. Saving it to your Desktop may make that easy.) Then double-click on the fixadt.reg file on your desktop (or locate it with Windows Explorer and double click on it if not saved to the Desktop) and when it prompts to Add in to the registry, say yes.
