Lots of Malware problems, etc

    I did everything in the clean procedures for XP Home before posting here.

    I am using Windows XP Pro. I am networked, but the other computer has none of these problems.

    When the problem arose, I had AVG Free Anti-Virus, and SpyBot Search and Destroy working. I am not sure specifically when the problem arose, but I think it possibly came on another computer when I copied files from another computer that I had in Norway when I returned to the US.

    The problems are at least as follows --
    AVG and Spy Bot constantly reported threats - even after removal, they continued to come back (using both regular and safe mode). I was unable to update any of my anti-virus programs after the problem was detected, and any website mentioning anti-virus software was blocked (all other websites connect properly). Also, system restore was disabled. I had to download all updates from another computer manually, and still after scanning multiple times with these programs, things were detected, but the problem continued to return.

    Before starting the above procedure, I uninstalled both of these programs.

    Before coming to this site, I tried the most recent version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (both in normal and safe modes), and also tried the Winsockxpfix program. It got to a point after multiple scans that Malwarebyte no longer detected problems, but internet was not fixed -- but after trying it much later, the problem was there again.

    I will attach the logs that were able to come, but not all programs were even able to run.

    SUPERAntiSpyware always had a problem in normal Windows mode (while scanning, the computer would be forced to restart), safe mode worked fine, and then later, it worked in normal mode only when the following were disabled

    * Use Kernel Direct File Access (recommended)
    * Use Kernel Direct Registry Access (recommended)

    Malwarebyte's Anti-Malfare worked fine, but most times that it ran, AGprotect would keep appearing, even if previously removed -- though there were a couple times that it did not appear, but later appeared.

    Combofix would quickly shut off before running, with the following message:
    "ALERT It is NOT SAFE To continue
    The contents of the ComboFix package has been compromised.
    Please download a fresh copy from:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-us-combofix
    Note: You may be infected with a file patching virus 'Virut''

    Redownloading does nothing to remedy the problem.

    "RootRepeal" does not work. The program freezes immediately upon running it. The "initialization" stage never finishes. When this happens, the rest of the computer freezes.

    When running MGTools9x, the following message is displayed:
    "GetLogs9x.bat does not support your Windows OS version"

    However, there is an analyze program there for HijackThis which outputs a log when run.

    This is not meant to be a bump. I made a mistake, the version of Windows I currently have is XP Home.

    "When running MGTools9x "---- wrong version! Go back to the read and run instructions and follow the procedures for Windows xp.

    I had gone through the Windows XP procedure, but for some reason I had downloaded the wrong MGtools (I think after making a complete list of all the XP procedures, when I went to download MGTools, I had went to the wrong page)

    This version ran fine. But there was an error during the running that did say:

    processdll.exe

    the application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b)

    Thanks.

    Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6"
    Java(TM) 6 Update 7

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract+ avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * -Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Now download and install:
    Java Runtime 6

    Now run Ccleaner to clean out only temp files and nothing else!

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\Avenger.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
