Lycos SideSearch with no ADD/REMOVE listed

I've given up, that's why I registered here actually. I got what I expect is a Lycos SideSearch variant......i.e. no sidesearch.dll's to be found anywhere. Also Lycos Sidesearch appears no where under ADD/REMOVES PROGRAMS.

SpyBot S&D, Adware 6.0, Bazooka and Norton Internet Secuirty 2004 are all installed and none can detect this particular SideSearch.

The BHO pops up only randomly, Has Lycos' logo proudly displayed on it, Lycos (themselves) have been absolutely a joke when it comes to helping.

One thing I have noticed in the SideSearch "object to search for window" is
sometimes when Sidesearch pops up, there is a pre-filled out search word
that is almost identical to a "data entry" commonly seen in your system registry. (i.e. a long combination alfa-numeric and numeral entry).

I've jotted that down (to see if there's a connection) and have done a registry searches for that data entry, but without any success finding the same in the registry.

Does anyone know the best first steps in indentifying the variant I have, and
any free scan software that's an excellant choice to find sidesearch variants.
I got hit hard about 5 days ago and I'm embarrassed to tell you guys how manys bugs have sifted through in the past three nights. Can't tell If I did or my wife krewzing during the day. ( a list looks like 180Solutions, Buddy Bargains, Prefetch, msbb.exe, ttuh.exe) My God that's just the short list.

I think I've got them all clean out after 3 nights working on it, but this Lycos crap is another story. I'm starting to suspect that I got this Lycos stuff on a separate instance.
