    Machine was "running slow". Sony VAIO VPCEB36GM x64 stock from Best Buy. Given to me by a friend to "look at and clean up".
    Removed junk programs, adware, etc, found no actual AV installed, Mcafee Security scan was installed thanks to flashplayer update, Microsoft Security Essentials was installed but broken. Removed all of those for AVG Free to get things going again. I am more familiar with AVG. Sony VAIO Messenger didn't uninstall very well and now have a delayed warning popup on boot to deal with about some file missing ugh. M$ and bloatware is such a pain.
    Machine seems better and is not "really" slow but I am seeing 90+ processes running at idle and the cursor pointer changes to the spinning circle every few seconds while just idling at the desktop as if there is some disk accessing going on.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\unisalesu <<< Delete this.

    [IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    Not seeing anything else to do.

    <quote> C:\Program Files (x86)\unisalesu <<< Delete this. ---> Done! Oops I missed that one;)

    JRT log attached

    I've tried to remove enough bloatware, but this stuff is getting more intertwined and codependent. I've reviewed it with autoruns and processexplorer- frustrating.

    Thanks for your expert eyes and VERY prompt reply as always Kestrel13!

    It's okay Kestrel13!. I didn't see anything else after you sent me the reply about use JRT. I ran JRT and posted a clean log so went ahead and handed it back to my friend. They were happy :)

    It's nice to help friends when you know a little more about this stuff than they do. I followed the steps you post after a successful cleaning before handing it back to them. The only lag I saw afterward was likely from needing more RAM or a nice SSD upgrade. People always overlook RAM and as the newer software gets bloated the demand increases. I add SSD because on older machines they are just more slick running than HDD. Thank you again for your help. You've always been there for me and my friends. This thread is considered closed
