So, I was cleaning up my harddrive today and came across a folder that will not be deleted. Supposedly it is "being used by another person or program." The interesting thing is that I thought I remembered there being some old mp3 files in there, but they have all vanished...yup, no files...no disk space being used. Next, I tried doing the Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D combo, but no use. Tried stinger and everything (AVG), then remembered that I should probably turn off system restore (so i did) and then I ran everything over again in and out of safe mode, but nothing turned up. After all this I used 'Remove Startup Buddy' to see if I could find the program associated with the folder, but that was no help either.
...what's goin' on here...any suggestions anyone?
any help would be greatly appreciated (since i'm kinda OC on files that aren't doing what I want them to do).
    thanks
oh ya...also tried to delete it through 'delete dr' (delete on reboot, etc), but that didn't work either .

A little more specific info could have been more useful.

    What is the folder name?
    Where is it located?
What is your OS (both WinMe and WinXP have system restore)?

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
