Make sure I'm clean

I ran through the basic maintenance section first, then followed all the steps in the Read and Run First thread.

I was able to complete all steps without error messages, but Spybot said that two items could not be fixed. It asked me to restart and allow spybot to run on startup. It was still unable to remove the two items associated with Fun Web Products. (looked like they got removed in a later step though)

Then, when I started Combofix there was a popup that said "There's a newer version of ComboFix available. Would you like to update ComboFix?" I answered No because the instructions did not mention that box, and I just downloaded the program today from this website.

I still have an icon in my system tray that says "Windows Security Alerts" when I mouse over. It causes a frequent popup ballon that says "Antivirus software might not be installed. Click this balloon to fix the problem" I haven't clicked on it because I'm not sure it's legit. (the icon is a red shield with an x in it)

There's also an icon that looks like a wrench on a blue background. It says "Start downloading dell support center 2.0" when I mouse over. That icon wasn't there before cleaning, so I haven't clicked on that either. I'm suspicious of that icon because right clicking on it doesn't give any options except "start downloading".

I noticed that one of the scanning tools detected and removed Zlob, but I see that zlob requires special removal procedures, so I want to make sure I am clean. I have not used the special instructions for removing zlob on this forum yet.

P.S. I had Norton 360 installed but I uninstalled it before starting the cleaning process to make sure it didn't conflict in any way. I am shutting this computer down until i'm sure it's clean, then i'll do the stuff you reccomend for keeping the computer safe and secure.

Oh sorry to double post, but if it helps to know what was wrong before: We had browser hijacks/redirects, an extra "security" toolbar, about:blank popped up a few times, there were programs in add/remove programs list that would not uninstall, extra items in IE favorites list, a system tray icon that flashed and gave a popup balloon that linked to a bogus security web site, and a few other small problems. Norton didn't seem to help much, but that's probably because my 12 year old approved some bad software.
