    I've gone thru and performed all steps in READ & RUN ME 1ST up to MGtools. That program doesn't seem to run. A black screen flashes by quickly and is gone. I don't see an MGlogs.zip file anywhere. I found a hijackthis log under MGtools.

    Please click Start, Run, and enter cmd and click OK. This will open a command prompt window. Enter the below commands at the command prompt each followed by the enter key. The bold black are commands. The purple is merely informational.

    cd \MGtools <-- this changes to the MGtools folder and the prompt should change to C:\MGtools>
    GetRunKey <-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
    ShowNew <-- this will try to run all another scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.

    I've done the cd\mgtools and getrunkey and it gives a log (attached.) Not sure how to enter the Shownew command as there doesn't appear to be a command line. The cursor is just blinking in the black window and the last thing I see is adding: runkeys.txt (188 bytes security) (deflated 77%).

    Is it finished?

    When you entered Shownew at the command prompt, hit enter, what happened? Have you disabled all your AV protection as well as ZoneAlarm?

    Let's try getting a complete log:

    Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    I guess my firewall was enabled again so sorry about that.

    After disabling it, I ran both GetRunKey and ShowNew. See attached.

    Should I still run the GetLogs.bat?

    Thanks!

    Not a problem. What malware issues are you having as I am not seeing any in your logs?

    Just slow computer (I know it's 100 years old!), so I wanted to rule out malware. I bought a new laptop which runs Windows 7 but I have some old software that I don't want to upgrade.

    Thank you for your help. I love this forum and have received lots of info from in over the past years.
