    Hi everyone,

    this has really confused me!

I bought a network external hard drive case (NAS)

removed the Maxtor hard drive from its original external casing and put it in the new NAS, and it wont work. it says.. "device found!" then "device may not work"

however!, i put the maxtor back into the original casing, it works!

i put a WD hard drive into the new casing and that worked also!

    any ideas at all?

i was thinking it might be something in the maxtor hard drives firmware or something nasty?

    cheers! (and many thanks),

    Chris.

    ok problem fixed,

the jumpers MUST be set to MASTER.

unlike the WD hard drives and other makes, leaving the jumper out will not make it work.
