Both photo's are badly out of focus.

I can't tell you from them if you need a new motherboard, but I suggest you first find the cause of this before you buy another or go any further.

    This should never happen.

they are badly out of focus and my camera cant focus any better. i have ordered a replacement ATXPWR2 connecter to hook up to my PSU i might be able to herryrig somethign to my mobo but why in the world would this happen.. it all started when i opened my comp to take some shots of it for a friend i guess i jostled the ATXPWR 2 connecter and it went boom. i found a replacement mobo on ebat for 35 bucks cause the buy bought the wrong one. but could it have been my PSU or what? i also looking for new PSU's on ebay and i find some for 20 bucks but are they any good?

I hate the 5 minute edit limit... was going to say its very hard to get a decent shot of my motherboard without having to take it out.. Lighting that corner is very difficult

I'd stay away from ebay, as you could be buying someone else's problem.

Power supplies and motherboards aren't that expensive. I wouldn't be sourcing second-hand ones.

Get a decent brand power supply like Antec or Thermaltake etc, as long as it's a reputable brand and not a cheap and poor quality unit.

The only decent brand in that link you supplied is CoolerMaster. Try a place like Newegg. They have a great range and good prices.

Again, first find the cause of this problem. Make sure there are no shorts or loose connectors that could have caused this.

If you are confident there are no shorts or loose cables, then it could very well be the power supply, which is even more reason to get a quality unit.

Ebay is quite safe if you buy from the power sellers who have a great feedback..I never buy from those with a low feedback (like myself hmmm) those with high feedback are usually 99% reliable..It is true you could buy someone elses problem but at the same time you should be fine if the person has good feedback with selling..Always a gamble sadly..

We're talking power supply and maybe motherboard.

They aren't that expensive, and going by the problems this post's author is having, it would be silly to consider second-hand.

Then there's a fair chance it might blow like that. I had one take a processor with it. oddly, it left the mobo totally intact. Check your contacts between Mobo and case. A friend of mine stated it's possible that over clocked Processor could be to blame.

my processor was not overclocked and hadent been for quite awhile when it blew. how should i go about checking the contacts between the Mobo and the case? i could check out my system in my roomates computer but i dont know if he would be thrilled about it.. unfortunalyl i cannot come across a powersupply i can borrow for like 10 minutes. the stupid conputer help desk doesnt have a power supply i can borrow from them. none of my computers at home have a PSU for a P4. so im screwed im waiting unit a part i ordered comes in and i cal tell what happened. but i think i will have to get a new PSU whether i like it or not. no name one aint that good. unfortunally as a college student with no job i am very poor. i might try and snag some money off my parents but it might be difficult.

5% battery left on my laptop i think i have to shutdown xD

Well, your computer listing in your signature shows an overclocked processor. In anycase, shouldn't a regular supply work, just not at full power? Can anyone confirm?

An overclocked cpu wont have caused this and with only 200mhz overclock,to me it doesnt seem like anything complex, its a cheap powersupply the connector is cheap,I have seen one where the metal pins pop out the back of the plastic housing, for that matter never use the 5 inch atx12 extensions they are crap, you jossled it while the computer was on it broke connection and arced like a welder,I would get rid of the power supply as been said, you have probably lost your mobo and cpu also,it happened to me once when I didnt connect the main mobo jack securley,I lost a mobo and modem

I agree with insomniac I dont think you should buy your parts from ebay, thats one thing I'v never understood for the small amount you save you have no warranty and the parts can be DOA,I always buy from reputable large businesses who have a no quibble return policy

    JMHO :)
