memory not reconized

    :confused

    I have a dell 640 laptop thats a little over 1yr old.I upgraded the ram from1024 mb to 2 gb. the ram was purchased from dell and is compatible with the system, the problem is the computor dosnt econizeit and says it only has 1024mb installed and only 1 card slottis in use when they both are. Dell says the mother board is bad i hope not! Any help would be appreciated!
