i just recently purchased a dell cpu and when it shuts down i get this message...Memory Parity Error...the screen goes blue and it will not finish shut down.

when i start the cpu i get no mobo beeps or any error messages. everything seems to run fine.

i did notice one strange thing, when i went into the system information it says the computer only has 504mb of memory instead of 512mb.

im guessing this is the problem and that dell will be sending me a new memory stick? or could something else be the cause of this.

then only thing i have added to the computer is a netgear wireless g router (wg311 v2) and i have the latest driver installed from netgear.com for it.

    thanks for any help.

i tested the memory itself and nothing changed so i then disabled the network card and it shut down fine. i then reinstalled the network card but it is still giving me the above message.

i have no idea why the network card would cause this memory message.
