Message "network cable unplugged"?

    my computer says this (see below) under network connections for the local area connection . . . could this be why i cant find my other computer on the network?? im trying to link my two computers and am having one hellofa time


    Local Area Connection
    Network Cable unplugged
    Broadcom 440x 10/100 inegrated controller

    And just how are you attempting this? IE - cables types, hardware, ect.

    actually - i turned off the firewalls - was runing zone alarm on both and it worked - connection speed is slow - but it works
