MG advice on running CCleaner

The Read Me First StickyThread on the forum about Spyware Specific advises against running the cleaner for the Applications tab and Issues tab....just to run it to clean Windows. Please elaborate. I have so far run the cleaner for all the tabs with no apparent adverse effects. Thanks.

Well, certain things in there will remove all taskbar items, a real problem if you use the old Windows taskbar, not the newer one. Its possible to run everything without noticing anything, so you should be fine. Not sure what your asking or how I can be of further assistance, if at all. Let me know!

To add to what MA has said. The Issues tab will go and look thru the registry for things that it believes "could be" problems but they may not be problems. If you blindly go an let it fix everything that it finds (especially without first doing a backup of your registry), you can run into problems. You could even find some applications may not work properly. This is a potential problem with using any registry cleaning tools. You have to be careful how you use them.

From experience with the "Issues" tab, It messed up my JAVA games. I had to completely remove JAVA and reinstall the new JVM from Sun. It was a pain so do be careful.

CCleaner offers the option of backing up the registry entries it removes, that's always a good idea.
