I was hesitant to install this in C:/WINDOWS/system like the program suggested, so I installed in on my D:/ drive in a specific folder of random naming. AVAST detected a virus, so I caught it. When I opened the folder, AVAST detected another virus. I am aware that these may be legitamate programs within the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.01 folder, but how is one to know? I deleted the program just to be safe.

Not easy these days to know if many applications that are picked up by AVs as virus's are real or not, in this case I suspect AVAST has picked up a file in MSBSA as a virus, but in reality its a false positive as I run MSBSA and its clean.

But always make sure you get applications from reliable sources or the original developers website to make sure.

Thank you so much for the reply. I actually posted the wrong program, tried to change the post, but couldn't find the link back to the post.

The program I was trying to list was actually "Wiretap Professional 6.0.1.4". So sorry for the misunderstanding. I'll be more careful when I post in the future...Mick.

Ah ok no probs Mick :)

In that applications defence it is most likely that as its a security application to monitor a PC and what goes on, on it, some executable files from it are being deemed trojans or malware as its possible that it uses keylogging to monitor the PC, this is normal in such applications but AVs tend to pick these up a trojans or virii, so if you trust this application then you can ignore the AV alerts.

I dont use that one but just had a quick read on its function.

Thanks Halo, maybe I'll try it again. I'll research it on the Net first, just to be sure. Mick

Most of the time if you are familiar with the program it's ok to install and if anything flags it, most likely it's a false positive.
