Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000

    I have a web cam that when I start it up it works for 12 to 15 seconds and then lockes up the computer and I can't use it. Is there something I can do to make it work?

    Hi Bob

    Whats the Windows version you have and Service Pack (if applicable)?

    What app are you using to view the webcam images etc?

    Could try THESE steps in the meantime to see if they clear this up, basically its trying to update the drivers.


    Also disable your security applications andthen try the webcam, possible a security app may block the live stream....

    If you look in Event Viewer and are their any errors at the exact time of the lockup if so what, can paste them into a Notepad file, save it and attach as per HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

    I am using XP service pack 2

    Also using the software that came with the Web Cam.

    Enclosed is a attachment showing that there is poor window performance.

    I have no other apps running and I can't hit the yellow triangle because the computer is locked-up, I have no way of reducing the video resolution.
