   Someone wants to install this on my pc to run a program that cannot be run without having this framework thing on my pc first.
   
   What exactly is this for and can it harm my pc? (I'm running win xp home sp2)

   No it cannot harm your PC, but is needed if you wish to install certain applications that are programmed in .NET
   
   Uninstall YES, but its a useful install.
