Missing dll after virus removal

    I recently suffered from multiple threat detections; Multiple segments of the Hiloti Virus infected Google Chrome and System Restore Points... Having succesfully removed the virus by deleting various registry entries, uninstalling Chrome and deleting all but one of my restore points I thought I'd won.

    However, since restarting, I am greeted with a dialogue window stating

    Error loading C:\WINDOWS\iqijoqoz.dll
    The specified module could not be found.

    I have no idea where or what this link is connected to or how to eradicate the notification.

    Any ideas?

    P.S. I don't do porn, downloading, cracks or keygens and have a lot of valuable research which I don't want to endanger; anyone know where or why this virus comes from so I can stop it infecting my HD?

    UPDATE: Found a couple of orphaned files in the registry. Since deleting them, the error has ceased.

    If anyone can answer the 2nd part of my query, I'd still like to know where the Hiloti virus is coming from and if it's new or historic. I'd also like to know why NAV didn't pick up on it till it was too late.

    It's just a new name given to many Vundo like infections which have been around for years. Typically these infections are acquired through a malicious online source. In many cases, these infections will lead to the installation of other malware such as rogue anti-spyware programs without your permission. You should consider running our full cleaning procedure.

    As far as why NAV does not pick it up......well you will have to complain to Symantec about this but make sure that you are running current versions of their software and definitions.

    @Chaslang: Thank you.

    I think (ironically) I picked up segments of the virus after visiting a 'health & well being website' - be warned, looking after your health can affect the health of your pc.

    Symantec will be receiving an email.
