    Hi all.
    Could anyone advise, please?
My PC has been recently fixed up after a Trojan attack, thanks to TimW.
Now it looks clean, SuperAntiSpyware, MalwareBytes, SpyBot S&D, Window Defender and NOD32 scans can find nothing wrong.
However, the PC sometimes hangs for a long time when I try opening a page. The Windows Task Manager shows “Not Responding” but after a few minutes the page opens.
If I want to “End Task” it also takes between a few and many minutes to End Task.
Also at this time CPU Usage shows 100%.
Looking through System Information I found that 2 files are missing: iecont.dll & iecontlc.dll and also file ieuinit.inf –not available. Could this be my problem?

    Thanks,
    Boris.

    My PC-Hallmark, Intel4-2800Mhz, RAM-1.5GB

    Hi Plodr .
    Thanks for prompt reply.
I ran the SFC routine with dificulties at start, but eventually managed to run it trough. Still the files iecont.dll iecontlc.dll ieuinit.inf are not there and nowhere to be found, neither the PC nor the CD ROM.
What are they doing? Do we need them at all? If we do, is it possible to just download them?

    Thanks,
    Boris.

From what I'm reading, apparently those files are missing from other people's computers and not needed.

    What is using the CPU?

How can I know? Is there a way?
I know it happens when the computer hangs. Or is it the other way around?
Trying to reconstract it and it does not happen when one wants to.
    Any more suggestions?:banghead
    Thanks,
    Boris.:confused

Hi :wave - Hey plodr thanks for your advice in previous posts.:cool:wave

Not my field of expertise but maybe the cached web pages, damaged active X funny cookies are having a bit of an issue possibly slowing down your connection. Had an issue on old win 98 unit and bitdefender 10 free where it took almost 10 minutes to open a blank word document..clearing cached files sorted this one - I think the real time protection or tea timer in antivirus can also have a pretty good imapct on this too. but i'm no malware pro and dont intentionally mean to give incorrect advice..good luck with this one:wave

When the computer is slow, you press ctrl+alt+del. This opens the Task Manager (click on the button that says Task manager). Then click on the middle tab, processes. The third column shows CPU. Look to see what is using the highest amount, write down the name and post it here. If two things are using a lot of CPUs, then post the two highest processes.

Since the system is slow, it might take a bit for the task mamager box to popup. Be patient.

    Hi plodr,
Managed to stall the computer by trying to open the Control Panel(most of times it happen at this point), the Win Task Manager showed "no response" but the CPU was not used above 2%.
System Idle Process was about 98%, which makes sence.
I have cleanned up the Temp. Internet Files and icreased the space on disk from 50 MB to 100MB.
The computer feels alive and I would say normal.
    So thanks for your help,
    Best regards,
    Boris :wave

    Download and run CCleaner http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html
this will clean out more and fix broken registry items. It is a pretty safe registry cleaner.
If you are low on hard disk space, your computer will start to act strange so you want to gain as much free space as you can.
