Modem blackouts

Platform XP home. I experience a very random modem blackout for a period of about one to two seconds at any time whatsoever sometimes maybe ten minutes apart but then probably not for an hour or so.The status light on the monitor stays on and remains green and does not flicker.I do not lose any content on screen and there are no other glitches of any kind ,just the screen goes black for that short period of time. Any ideas ? Gordon.

 

I do not understand are you talking about streaming videos?

 

This problem happens at any time ,whether surfing ,reading or sending emails or printing etc.or whatever. Gordon

 

Do you know if your modem is a controller based or controllerless modem? An example of a controllerless modem is a soft modem, winmodem, flex modem. Controllerless modems can be unreliable. Can you try out another modem on your system to see if these blackouts still happen?

 

Ok,the screen flickers,but why do you think it is modem,Could it be some spyware on your computer taking screenshots?
