Daughter went to a site that advertised jobs on line. It said she needed to install Java (She's 14) She clicked on the button. FBI Moneypak installed. Can't reach the GUI desktop at all without the FBI screen.

Did F8 on her laptop, went to the command prompt. Per the forum removal instructions, ran tools in recommended order after using ccCleaner. However, forgot to check UAC status. Therefore made sure it was turned off, deleted all logs, reran all 5 tools. Did nothing with other tools except follow instructions explicitedly. AntiMalwareBytes found one infection and I deleted it. Rebooted, FBI screen still there. Can't get into the Win 7 desktop at all. May I ask for your help. I don't feel confident enough to go further than I have thus far without expert help. Thankyou.

In safe mode with networking, re-run RogueKiller.(Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [SHELL][SUSP PATH] HKLM\[...]\Winlogon : Shell (explorer.exe, C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Roaming\qzbtSlShie) -> FOUND
      [HJPOL] HKCU\[...]\System : DisableTaskMgr (1) -> FOUND

Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
Do not reboot your computer yet.

Now run Hitman and have it fix this item:
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Roaming\qzbtSlShie.exe

Reboot and download OTL to your desktop.

Double-click OTL.exe to start the program.
    • Copy and Paste the following code into the Custom Scans/Fixes textbox. Do not include the word Code
    Code:
    :processes
    :killallprocesses
    :files
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\qzbtSlShie.exe
    C:\ProgramData\qzbtSlShie.exe
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\49AC.tmp
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\6F64.tmp

    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\B4EA.tmp
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\B6E0.tmp
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\B76D.tmp
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\BE22.tmp
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\CFDD.tmp
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\DEA1.tmp
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\dump.dat
    C:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Local\Temp\F92D.tmp
    :commands
    [PURITY]
    [EMPTYTEMP]
    [RESETHOSTS]
    [REBOOT]

    • Then click the Run Fix button at the top.
    • Click the OK button.
    • OTL may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot. Just close notepad and attach this log form OTL to your next message.

Now reboot into normal mode and see if you can't run both RogueKiller and Hitman and attach the two new logs.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Thankyou Tim, lots of good progress.:)

First Ran MBAM and told it to delete an infection. It did so. Re-ran it
and it showed clean on the logs. I did this because I wasn't able to download a currently updated version. The instructions on this don't seem to work right to get the updated database. Couldn't get it off the site either.

Then ran Roguekiller and it went well.

Hitman Pro was something else. It does find three items and they are in its log. It uploaded 3 items to the net inspite of my telling it I was an "expert." They are in its log. Hitman would not delete c:\Users\Roeck\AppData\Roaming\qzbtSIShie.exe. I deleted it myself from the command prompt.

Rebooted and found myself at the windows desktop, albeit somewhat changed. I have Norton 360 and it does not appear to be fully running.

Ran OTL, pasted in the required code. It said it could not find the qzbtSlSie.exe file. ( I had already gone in and manually deleted it.)
Otherwise, it ran and ended normally with a reboot.

Right now, things look quite good from the desktop itself. I have done nothing further at this point such as dealing with system restore and I think, if Hitman Pro is correct, I will still need to clean some more stuff off the drive.

Thanks again, and I'll check for a message from you at your convenience. I might add that your reply time to my first message was just great.

    Kindest regards.

Run Hitman and have it remove this:
    C:\windows\SysWOW64\logucans.dll

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now tell me if you have any remaining issues.

Ran Hitman again. Found that at the cmd prompt it would clean things out but as soon as it saw the net connection, it would ID problems, but not fix them. Anyway, it now shows no problems.

JRT was run and it found a bunch of stuff. Log is attached. The machine looks clean, and seems to function normally at the desktop, but just to be sure I'm going to run AntiMalware bytes one more time and do one more run with hitman. I'll also manually check for sysWOW64\logucans.dll.

I will send you a further update. Thanks again, Tim. :)

    You are most welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link
Malware removal from a National Chain = $149
Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0

I guess I was too optimistic. It's Baaaack, it least the files seem to be.
My message to you yesterday did not post immediately. In the meantime, I ran malware bytes again. It showed clean. I then, just to be sure, ran roguekiller from the desktop and it reported several files which we had worked on before and which it had deleted before. I deleted them again, ran it once more after a reboot and the number of suspect files diminished again. I ran it again, and it showed clean as did hitman pro. I turned off system restore. I am not sure we got all the files. The files seem to be regenerating, somehow.

I ran RK 8 times. In summary, from the first run last night where all files we had worked on were back to the 8th run where all traces seem clear, it went like this: 1. Original Files infected again. 2. Less files infected on run 2. Run 3 clean. Run 4, Some files back again. Run 5, still some infections. Run 6. Clean Run 7 Clean and Run 8 just now still showing clean.

I think we should check further. This is a very persistent infection.
What do you recommend? Another tool perhaps or possibly re do the entire sequence?

First Five RKs in sequence are attached. Last 3 not included, all were clean.

Those are not problems and they do not need to be fixed. They are typcial default settings. They are not indications of problems.

These are not problems, just false reports:

    Good Morning Tim,

I wanted to wait a while before checking back with you. Over a week has past with the computer remaining clean and functioning properly.
I want to thankyou for all your help and your work on my daughter's laptop. I have her running a standard win 7 account, have reinstalled Norton ( has 30 days to go) and will be putting some of your software recommendations in place as soon as Norton goes away. It looks like we'll need one for the Firewall, one for Malware, and one for viruses.
I've looked at the list recommended on the site, but certain packages have changed (as I guess, happens constantly), and I need to come up with a package of perhaps three to do the entire job. Thank you again, and I'll be continuing to read this forum to keep up to date.

    Kindest regards :wine
