I replaced my video card a few weeks ago, because my old one was messed up big time..

    Everything was fine until yesterday..

Now my monitor will randomly shut itself off, and it says on the screen No Input Signal, and it goes to Power Save Mode.

When this happens, it sounds like my computer is still running, though.

Just have to turn off my computer and restart in a couple of minutes.

    Any ideas?

Next time, try shutting down just the monitor and turning it back on. The other option is to recheck all the cables.

Turned off monitor and turned it back on, same deal.

Also made sure everything is plugged in fine.

do you have any power management features on?

do you have the correct drivers installed?

Power management features? I'm not sure, I don't think so..

Updating graphics drivers didn't fix it..

I think next step is to try my monitor on another computer, and try my gfx card on another computer, and hopefully figure out the problem..

It seems to sit there with the black screen / no input signal for a minute or so, then the computer reboots itself, and it runs for a while.. then rinse and repeat.

what was your original graphics card and what did you replace it with? Also can you post what power supply your comp has along with any other hardware specs you can dig up like motherboard, cpu etc...

did you uninstall your video card drivers when removing the old one then reinstalling the relevant drivers for the new one?

it sounds like your new card could be overheating or it may draw too much power for your current power supply to handle.

New card is a GeForce 6200, 256 mb. Old card was a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra.. New card isn't any better than old one, really.. and PS worked fine with that one.

    Mobo is Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
    Athlon XP 2000+ 1.7gigs processor

Not sure what the PS is.. need to dig it out to find out or.. ?

Cards that are going to draw excess power will have a four-prong plug in on them. Check and see if that's the problem.

Also open the power management options, and make sure that the monitor going into a power saving mode.

To check, go into control panel>power management. One tab should read Power Schemes. There should be an option for the Hard Drive, and for the monitor.

Some monitors, older ones and a few video cards, don't like this mode, and will refuse to come back without a restart. There might be a driver reason for it, but I can't be certain. I do know that my Phillips monitor, and my ATI card won't come back unless it's rebooted.
