I've got an old PIII system and today when i came to swich the monitor on it just stayed blank i've tryed changing the graphics from the onboard to a PCI nVidia TNT2 to no avail.

I've also tryed reseting the bios by removing the button lithium battery for 10mins but no luck with that either.

    Any sugestion's?

stupid question buttt-- are you sure the monitor works? ..Are you getting the pc to boot(more info)? Any post codes etc?
Are you sure the cable is not broken or twisted? Has the monitor been moved lately?

so what's different about it from the last time you switched it on? is there definitely power going to the system? Check every connection inside the machine.

does your computer have any fans in it?
and are they running when you turn on your computer?
if they are not running when you turn on your computer, then i would say your computer died, and it's time for a new one.

    The fans are running.

You say your fans are running so it must be ether your monitor cables or your monitor it self.

No because the monitor works, i have tryed the computer on two monitors.
and the monitor i tryed with my main PC and it works fine.

So its definitly NOT the monitor.

Here's a list of what i have tryed so far to make things clear :)

Tryed the PC with two monitors that i know to be working.
Inserted a PCI nvidia TNT2 Graphics card and tryed that instead of the onboard
Removed the Lithium Battery from the Motherboard for 30mins to re-set the BIOS.
    Un-plugged the HDD's IDE/POWER
    Un-Plugged the CD-Roms IDE/POWER
Checked all power connections to MB etc..

None of these have worked the computer stays blank and appears to make no obvious signs of boot e.g no bios post boot single "beep" and no HDD/Floppy access.

all that happens is the fan's for the CPU and PSU fans operate.

I guess your looking at either dead mobo, dead cpu or memory,so reseat the memory try it in a different slot, remove the cpu and reseat, you will need some thermal paste handy

Its a PIII system so its all in one plastic block. and surly if it was the mem i'd get a post boot

Ummm your motherboard might be fried...

or something went wrong with your graphics card or maybe something came unpluged inside the computer.
