Monitor went blank,but everything works

Hi,
I have been on my computer this morning for about an hour,had a phone call and when I came back the computer monitor was blank. Rebooted the computer and the same thing happens again. If I turn off the Monitor then turn it back on I can see my desktop but only for about 5 seconds then itr it goes blank again. Computer is about 3 yrs old,never had a problem with it.

I have a 19" Samsung that does that. It started blacking out with a shorter and shorter time. I replaced it with a new monitor. I think in mine a resistor needs replacing but I'm not sure I want to do that.

Try the monitor on a different computer. If it does the same thing, then it is the monitor.

Thanks Plordr,done some research and it's my backlite inverter board that went bad on my monitor.
