monitor went blank came back up and performed system recover by itself

need help apparently my computer has a mind of its own and did a system recover by itself. my spyware ,virus protection and othere programs still show on the desk top but are not opening. i cant even go to ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS to remove them they just arent showing up. Any ideas????
