monitor wont start with pc till reset power

hi, every time i shut down the pc ...the next time i start it, only the monitor wont start, its like nothing happen. but everything else is running tho. and the only way to start the monitor is by restart the power button at the bad of pc. after that the monitor work fine like normal once i start the pc. but only once, next time i gotta do the same thing over. any help? im using xp professional version 2002 service pack 2
