    Is my motherboard, shown there, compatable with any AMD Athlon or higher-powered processors, that say would be able to carry about 2 GHZ?

    no it is not, the P3V4X will accept Pentium 3 processors only at a maximum speed of 1Ghz.
    so upgrading your processor automatically means upgrading your mainboard.
