I am trying to figure out how to get files from drive 'C' to drive 'D'. I am running windows xp, and my C drive is nearly full. My 'D' drive still has a good deal of space on it. I would like to get the C drive freed up so that it does not cause any problems. Any suggestions, and how to better manage this?

Are both drives connected to the same computer? If so, can't you just copy/paste? (I say copy/paste in case something goes weird while moving files over and the destination drive doesn't get the files)
Or is this more than just moving files?

If you want to move the files you could also right click and hold then drag files to d: and folder you want to save them in. When you release button a window will appear and you can click to move or copy. If you move you won't have to go back through and delete them from the c: As stated by Shock there is a slight possibility of something going awry while moving.

I recommend NOT moving any files located with the program files directory. What I'd do, is move any "my music" or "my movies" or other large files located within your "my documents" to the D:\ drive.

The reason I state to not move any files from the "Program files" is due to the registry. A program may/will search the registry for its location, typically c:\program files. Modifying the registry is dangerous, but possible and time consumming.

What about the sendto option ?
Start, run, type in sendto, then in the sendto box, right click on blank space, click new, click shortcut, and in the box that comes up, click brouse, click on your D drive, click new folder- name the folder as you want.
You can create as many folders as you like this way in the Dpartition, for Files -
Check they open in D, are o.k, then you should be able to delete from the C drive.
TinW ,s link is seems good for applications, but I have not tried it.
