Mozilla Profile Switched

I opened Mozilla and it asked me if I wanted to use default user or "Mike"

I picked Mike because that's who I am but all my favorites are gone.

I searched through all the options but I can't figure out how to switch back to default user so I can get all my settings back.

I believe Mozilla has a User Manager. It's possible that your user is pointing to a default or new user folder.

Try to see if you can change the folder to your old info.

Your Mozilla information should be located (depending on your OS) in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Internet\Username , or "Mike" in your case.

 

No, I do not have sucha directory.

If the option randomly came up for me to switch there must be a way to d oit again.

 

Even though I hated doing it, I installed mozilla. I prefer Firefox...but anyway....

The path was incorrect

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\(random characters)

the random characters is where the profile is located. Bookmarks.html is where your bookmarks are located.

 

Sorry. Mozilla suite is not the same thing as firefox. They are two different builds. They are both based on totally different branches (builds). The mozilla suite is...just that, a complete package.

In the future (who knows when this is)...both firefox and thunderbird (which will integrate with sunbird) will eventually become a new mozilla suite (last I read). In fact, for awhile, the mozilla build was going to be dropped, but wasn't cause of popular demand. Mozilla is based off old code. Even though mozilla seems very similar to firefox, but it isn't.

If my faded memory serves me well, mozilla is based off old netscrape but refined.

Firefox started over with a completely new code. From ground up.

Personally, I put mozilla suite (as of right now) with netscape. Pure junk....(IMHO)

I run firefox and thunderbird. At work I run firefox, thunderbird, and sunbird....

 

Kill all firefox processes

Start->run->firefox.exe -p

Choose your Mike profile (make sure it's Mike), and hit Start Firefox.

 

What is the firefox process called?

 

CTRL+ALT+DEL
click on Processes tab
Select firefox.exe
click on End Process

Then
Start->run->firefox.exe -p

Choose your Mike profile (make sure it's Mike), and hit Start Firefox.

 

And this works for you?

 

I sorry, are you using Mozilla Suite or Mozilla Firefox.

If Mozilla Suite then stop the mozilla.exe from the task manager if it is running, then enter the following:

START -> RUN
C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe -P Default
OK

If Mozilla Firefox then stop the firefox.exe from the task manager if it is running, then enter the following:

START -> RUN
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -P Default
OK

If the default profile does not correct the problem change Default to Mike
