MS OFFICE vs. OPen office?

Which one you preffered?
The lightest in memory usage?
easy to use?
friendly user?

One cost and arm and a leg (office) the others one is free.....

 

I like Open Office, layout is about the same compared to Office 2003 IIRC, supports most if not all formats. However, I just use it for personal purposes instead of MS Wordpad. I've also made some simple spreadsheets and the process is similar to Excel. Also, as was said above the price is right for an office suite of which I'm only using a small fraction of its capabilities.

 

Ive used both OO and Office 2003, and I can say this--OO is not as backwards compatible as touted...at least for Excel files.

I prefer Office myself, because OO is just slower to me.

 

Of course, OO doesn't cover the whole spectrum of MS Office capabilities. But if remember that it's free, it becomes rather good for its price

 

Only time I use Open Office is on my Linux machines. Microsoft Office is what I prefer, but it's not free.
