MS Visual Basic Error

I don't know the first thing about Microsoft Visual Basic, but I'm getting a Word doc from a client that's obviously using this. When I try to open it I get "Compile Error - Can't Find Object or Library." Then I get an error "Compile Error - User Defined Type not Defined."

Without getting into all the specifics of Visual Basic, is the "short answer" to tell this sender that there's something wrong with the doc he's sending and ask him to fix it? Or is the trouble really on my side? Do I need something special besides Word 2003 to read a Visual Basic doc? I don't want to come across as an ignoramous if there's something on my side that I can/should do.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Clearification. I'm not sure that the problem is on your end.
