   When I click the bullets button in the tool bar, my cursor idents instead of giving me a bullet.

   If bullets and numbers do not automatically appear, click AutoCorrect Options on the Tools menu, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Select the Automatic bulleted lists or Automatic numbered lists check box.
