msa64chk.dll error message

    Hi all

    I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but I am having problems with the above. each time I start up winXP, I get an error message saying c:\windows\system32\msa64chk.dll cannot be opened. I have run AVG virus checker, spybot and adaware and still I get it. I ran Hijack This and here is the result.

    you definatly have Spyware on your PC ... the nasty is called 123 messenger ..

    these two lines are the main culprits
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [GetMP3] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSA64CHK.dll,DllMostrar Matrix_HTML:GetMP3:t
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DownloadMP3] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSA64CHK.dll,DllMostrar Matrix_HTMLownloadMP3:t

    I would advise reading this on safely removing spyware... http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

    main steps to follow are turn off System Restore, reboot and use an application like Ad-Aware... free and now at version 1.04 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html

    but follow all steps listed!
