Msmsgs.exe (Need help stopping it)

Hey all, I want to stop Msmsg.exe from loading at startup. If I uncheck it from msconfig it will start itself up anyway and re-check itself on msconfig. Even if I exit it from system tray after start up it still runs in processes, if I end it there, it restarts itself. One day Zone Alarm said it was trying to monitor my mouse and keyboard movements so thats the main reason why I want to end it but also because it takes up valuable memory space on my system and is not being used, ever.

Heh, you overthought this problem. Open MSN messenger, click tools options. On the general tab, uncheck the box that says "automatically run messenger when I log into windows"

That'll stop 'er!

 

msmsg.exe is related to Windows Messenger (rather than MSN Messenger). Do the following to disable it:

Start>Programs>Windows Messenger>Tools>Options>Preferences.

Uncheck "Run this program when Windows Starts"

One other thing. Check that the file is located in:

c:\windows\System32

If it's not, you have a virus of some kind.

 

Actually scrap that bit. It's completely wrong.
