Msvcr71.dll was not found

Happens after trying to start any java applet.

Here's one of the java applet:

I had reinstalled java, and same error.

WinXp 64 bit

It doesn't apply. I didn't "repair Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition"

 

Try reregistering the dll
start>run> then type regsvr32 msvcr71.dll and press enter

This is an old thread but maybe it is still applicable. Apparently some java installs do not place the msvcr71.dll in the correct location.

I'd search for msvcr71.dll and if it isn't in the proper place, copy it to where the thread says it belongs and see if that stops the error.
