    Hi Fellow Geeks,

First, I want to start off by saying that I am not bashing Diskeeper 8.0. It is excellent software, but no software can be perfect all the time and I noticed a "glitch" In Diskeeper 8.0.459t. After thoroughly searching around, I have found 2 people who had the same problem with this particular build of Diskeeper. I still have RegCleaner by Jouni Vuorio and set the Options/Preferences/Marking as old to manual so I can see when a program has added keys to my registry. I began having a problem with "Dynasoft" registry entries a couple of months ago and they would multiply every time I rebooted Windows! Since I was installing and trying many new programs at the time, I marked these entries as "Old" at first, but they kept multiplying... At one point I counted over 60 entries!

I never assumed Diskeeper (which I had set to screensaver mode) might be the culprit. I assumed I had some sort of mal-ware on my computer, scanned with every anti-virus, anti- trojan, and anti- adware app I could get my hands on and used all the online scans as well... I did a Google search for "Dynasoft registry entries" and pulled up this thread in Wilders' Security Forums. The poster never got his question answered, so I reposted in this section of the forum. If you read the thread, you will see that it took me 10 days to solve the puzzle, but Google saved my butt yet again! After the .reg startup key the Forum Administrator created for me failed to work I found this forum/post. MyIE2 translated this page for me, but here is a direct quote:
(Sorry, some of the literacy is lost in the translation.)

Anyway, I un-installed Diskeeper and my problem was finally solved... I know that many of you use Diskeeper with no problems whatsoever, so there must be a common thread between me and the other two persons who posted. (I run Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 1, by the way.) As stated earlier, this is not meant to bash or criticize Diskeeper. It is EXCELLENT software and I miss the ease of having my computer defrag while in screen saver mode. I just wanted to post about this in case anyone has this problem (multiple "Dynasoft" registry entries) in the future, if they find this post it may save some time and headaches...

    Thanks,
    Gina
    :)

Sorry, too late to edit, but the first link in my post should have been http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=10059 (In post #10, board user thetriune1 posted about the Dynasoft entries, and Google first brought up this post. In my 2nd posted link you may have to scroll up to see the entire thread (when I tried the link it brought up my very last post.) In the 3rd link you will have to scroll down to the 3rd post to find the reference to find the member Gorkon's reference to Diskeeper and multiplying Dynasoft registry entries.

    Whew! Sorry so complicated...

    Cheers & Peace to all,
    Gina

I have Diskeeper 7.0.430 and have one Dynasoft key

    HKLM\Software\Dynasoft\

with three numeric subkeys, but I've never had a problem with the key(s) multiplying...

    Weird

I know, it is very weird! Had Google not pulled up that last forum for me I would have reformatted over and over again, installing Diskeeper 8.0.459t each time, and never figured it out... I was going crazy! I don't like unsolved puzzles.

I plan to write the company, but in the meantime I may install Diskeeper Lite 7.0 Build 418 from http://majorgeeks.com/download1207.html (the free version) and see if I have the same problem with it. I don't know where to download build 7.0.430.

    Peace & take care all!

I don't think you can, it's a paid version from a couple years back.

    Alanc,
The guy I quoted in my first post also recommended PerfectDisk. I installed it and am trying it, cannot tell you (yet) whether it is a good software or not. I also downloaded Diskeeper lite from MG. Have you (or does anyone else have) any experience with PerfectDisk?

    Thanks,
    Gina

Thanks go out to you!! I am using Diskeep 8.0 on my home PC and have been wondering for at least 6 months what the heck "dynasoft" was. At least I don't have to worry about spyware. Everything I read on Google did not tell me anything. I really like the program so I guess after every use I will have to clean it from the registry until something better comes along!!

    Thanks again!!

    Ginanatl,
Did the multiple registry keys cause you any problems? I to, run Diskeeper 8.0, and it hasn't caused any problems or issues on any of my computers. I don't manually do a registry search for duplicate keys, but use several programs that clean the registry. Please advise if this caused an issue in your case, perormance or othwise, other than the duplicate keys.

    Hi All!
    Novice & Cheroking,
I didn't notice any other problems with Diskeeper other than the multiple registry entries, and they are just updates I believe. So as long as that doesn't bother you I see no reason to change if you like the program.

    Peace & Take care,
    Gina
