multiple internet problems

i downloaded ie 8-beta yesterday (sun). then decided to back it off. did a system restore using the checkpoint from saturday.

now i can't get into ie at all.
when i click on internet options via the control panel - nothing comes up.

i can get onto aol and surf the internet but i can not download anything.

i am running windowns xp.

any ideas?

also within control panel "set up or change your internet connections". when i click on that nothing happens.

also tried "start- run- typed iexplore.exe- clicked ok" nothing happens.

 

tried = START --> RUN and typing regsvr32 IEPROXY.DLL and then clicking OK.

gave message loadlibrary ieproxy.dll not found

 

went to add/remove programs. internet explorer is not listed (i did not delete it)

windows update will not run

 

halo, thanks for your reply. here are my restore points from sunday.

2:32pm software distribution service 3.0
2:30pm install windows internet explorer 8
2:14pm install jave 6 update 6

should i do the restore from 2:30? in other words is that the restore point taken just prior to the install of ie8?

 

ok. that system restore didn't work.

since i have multiple issues, i'm trying to solve the internet options problem now.

i think that one and the fact i can't download ANYTHING are my two major problems.

edit: looks like i didn't mention the fact that i can not access internet options from the control panel. that is what i am working on now. thanks for your help halo.
