Okay, I've taken care of a lot of malware over the last several years, but this one has me stumped. This'll teach me to let my antivirus subscription expire, I guess

I bought and installed McAfee, and it's giving me this warning pop up message randomly, even when the computer is just sitting there, and every time I close it, it comes back up again:

    -------------------------------------------------
"One or more e-mail messages cannot be sent.
    Details
    View the log

After you verify the format of your recipient addresses, McAfee recommends that you resend those messages from your e-mail program."
    -------------------------------------------------

When I click 'View the Log', here's what I get

So, the good news is, the spam mail isn't getting through, but it's insulting to think that this crap is living on my computer somewhere and trying to spread to all these people.

I've updated virus defs and scanned with McAfee, and it's not picking anything up. SpyBot S&D isn't either, and AdAware and AVG won't run (I think this trojan or whatever it is won't let them start right). I also ran Registry Mechanic, and it didn't turn up anything of interest, either. My attempts to google my symptoms are just leading me to dead ends, so I'm hoping MajorGeeks.com will come to my rescue!

Thanks in advance for your help, just tell me what you need me to do from my end!

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

The addresses in the from column appear to be random jibberish! Are the addresses in the To column valid addresses? Are they from your address book?

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
