  1. Hi

Im running a dell M20 laptop,
    Win XP Pro, Vers.2002, Service Pack 2, Pentium M, 2.00GHz, 1.00GB ram

My computer is extremely slow starting up.
i have been in contact with the malware forum, and it seems like I have no viruses. Have used CCcleaner as well.
With ccCleaner I have created a file of programs, that Im attaching here, for someone to valuate.

Please go through and tell me if Iam running some apps that arent nessesary or usefull. The file can be found here: In the software dep. "How To Speed Up Your Computer aka; My Computer is SLOW!!! "

For instance Im questioning the following:
    Can they be deleted?

    ccCommon
    ccPxyCore
    CC_ccProxyExt
    mDriver
    mDrWiFi
    mHlpDell
    mIWA
    mIWCA
    mLogView
    mMHouse
    Modem Helper
    mPfMgr
    mPfWiz
    mProSafe
    MSRedist
    mSSO
    mToolkit
    mWlsSafe
    mXML
    mZConfig
    SPBBC
    SymNet
    TrustIn Search Assistant
    WebFldrs XP
    Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

    THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR COLLABORATION.

Where did you get this list? Those don't look like software applications that boot up with your computer to me.

Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Startup tab
Will show you which programs are booting up with Windows.

  3. Help is still needed. Please

Im attaching the full list created out of ccCleaner, which is a list of installed apps.

Furthermore I have attached a list of start-up programs. To me that looks more or less correct.
however the list of services running looks huge.

What can I do to speed up my comp?
My computer is running real slow, and I need to get it cleaned up.

Can anyone be of any assitance here?

    thanks

  6. Hallo again, both of you.

I have actually posted a few messages in that other forum that you are mentioning. However they directed me to this forum.

About the PC-de-crapifier, the only program it comes up with is Norton Antivirus, and since that is my virus protection Im not interested in deleting that particular program..

anything else in mind that I could try...

How about that huge list of services I attached earlier... Could I get you to look at that and give me your diagnosis. thanks!

    regards,

and you mentioned "deleting" in 2 times

Dont delete a program if you want to take out, try to use uninstall it.

    Norton is crap in memory

    you can try AVG free

  8. hello again,

sorry to inform you that even after uninstalling norton and setting up AVG virus protection, my computer still runs (from time to time) with 100% CPU performance/use - when Im not doing anything..

it has difficulties loading folders and it crashes more and more often.

    what can I do?

still I think the list of services that I posted a few days ago, has issues in it that could/should certainly be erased. My problem is that I dont know which ones, and Im not out for trouble.

    please help if you can..
    thanks

  10. hello again,

HAve tried the PandaActive Scan. The last time I ran it, it didnt find anything peculiar.
The programs that take up the CPU percentage varries between
    IEXPLORER.EXE
    SpySweeper.EXE
earlier on NORTON (which I have deleted)

It often takes up all the performance and crashes.

Could you please go through the list of processes running. Any specific directions on how to attach such a list?

    thx in advance

Do you need SpySweeper running all the time, even when you are not actively scanning/

    "iexplorer - iexplorer.exe - Process Information
    Process File: iexplorer or iexplorer.exe
    Process Name: AdClicker parasite

Run a Free System Scan for iexplorer.exe Related Errors

    Description:
iexplorer.exe is a process belonging to the AdClicker advertising program. This process monitors your browsing habits and distributes the data back to the author's servers for analysis. This also prompts advertising popups. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system.

    Recommendation for iexplorer.exe:
DISABLE AND REMOVE IMMEDIATELY. This process is most likely an adware or spyware."

  12. sorry for my inability to be more precise...

The application running is IEXPLORE.EXE (the part of Windows..)
Any way that you could go through that list of apps?

    that would be highly appreciated.

You've got stuff on that list that's out of date. Have you gotten the latest MS security updates?

  14. I have every update from Microsoft Update, could you specify which files I have on that list, that shouldnt be there or should be updated.

    thanks again

You can start with updating Java from 6 to 8.

  16. that doesnt seem to be a free version....
    Im using the free one...
    anything else I should do?

First install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Then uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

You should make sure that the below do not run at startup. Only run them when needed.
    LimeWire 4.12.6
    Skype 2.5

I also recommend uninstall Logitech Desktop Messenger. It is not needed and wastes system resources and typically clutters upi the registry with a ton of garbage.

Please try uninstalling Spy Sweeper and see if there is noticeable improvement in your PCs performance. While Spy Sweeper is a great program and you do need a realtime spyware blocking tool like this, on some PCs, Spy Sweeper can severely slow the system down. So uninstall (do not just try to stop it from loading using MSconfig - this will not have the same effect) and see what happens!

  18. Hi again,
Could someone please tell me if I can delete the programs on this list:

    Thanks for the quick resonse.

However Im still wondering if I can delete a few of the programs in the file I sent you in my previous message.

    mHlpDell
    mIWA
    mIWCA
    mLogView
    mMHouse

    mWlsSafe
    mXML
    mZConfig
    SPBBC

Furthermore I have Windows Applications running that seem to be malware.
I have done a bit of resarch on the internet and found out that these proccesses are not wanted. How do I get rid of them?

    Khalmnpr
    Csrss.exe
    dlbtbmgr.exe
    dltbbmon.exe
    explorer.exe
    isass.exe
    rundIl32.exe

Copy each entry ...paste into a search engine (google / alltheweb, etc) and you will find what they are .....as in: ccCommon is part of Norton.

  20. Thank you. Will do that.
And to the other question: do you have a specific program in mind that can delete all the files, that I find to be either malware or simply not wanted.?

  22. Thx
will try to do the scans again...
Another issue that have arised is that I cant open the Windows XP Firewall. IT seems to be down.
What can I do to fix that.
Im no longer running Norton Securiy, which had a firewall included.

You need to respond to my previous message!

You should not just DELETE things. You should uninstall any software that you do not need. Some of those items you listed are part of Symantec, some maybe related to your hardware, and some are part of Windows.

Would you like your PC to become totally unusable? I don't think so. Leave those files alone. Some are part of your OS and your PC will not run without them. Some are from Dell and may or may not be needed. And it is not isass.exe it is lsass.exe (that's a lower case L not an upper case i )

As far as disabling processes that are running follow the instructions at this link http://www.majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12
Use the safe settings first and see if this improves performance any. Do not disable too many processes at once as if you need something running it will take you forever to work out which one of your stopped processes it is.

Could also give this little proggy a try http://www.majorgeeks.com/Advanced_WindowsCare_v2_Personal_d4991.html
as I have personnaly found that it will make adjustments to windows to improve performance. The startups section will also suggest if certain things are required to run at start-up.

  25. What can I delete out of this list?+
please go through it and be specific
cause I have no clue myself....

    thanks

are all these things running? Deleting programs that are not active or do not start at boot time is not going to improve performance
