i was attempting to start it in safe mode (i have usb wireless keyboard so i tried to start it up in safe mode by typing msconfig in the run command and went to boot.ini and chose safe and it booted up and displayed nothing, now i can't start it up normally now)

originally i installed windows on it when i had a bigger monitor than i've been using for the past couple of months because the bigger monitor broke (well the cable it is replaceable but never had the chance to buy another cable the monitor is an ibm p201)

will it work again if i tried booting it up in the bigger monitor that i used when i was installing windows xp home edition and go to run in it's safe mode and so the process of what i have done all over again but instead of putting in safe i'll change it back to normal in the boot.ini tab

    thanks for the help

What is probably happening is that Windows is set up to display in a higher resolution than your new monitor can support. When you press F8 to bring up the menu that has safemode on it, select "enter VGA mode" or something like that. That should start your computer in a lower resolution and change the settings there.
