rather annoying little problem in that when i open 'my computer' to view files and disk drives etc, it will not show my (f: ) -which is my dvd rom drive. it shows all other drives as normal including my (e: ) -dvd/rw drive. i recently upgraded my firmware for my pioneer dvr 107d (e: ) and for some reason even that doesn't always show and takes ages for a game to show when i put a cd in the drive...

is there any way i can check my drives are working properly? some little test or program i can run...its a pain in the neck!
any help would be great, thanks

check device manager for any ? or ! marks.

Note error codes and on what devices.

checked device manager and only noticed that only one physical drive was showing (my e: ) the other was actually my drive i use for mounting stuff using alcohol 120. anyway, it said they were both working properly so i 'scanned for hardware changes' in device manager and lo and behold...up pops my cheeky f:

he is working fine, not sure why he dissapears but as long as he is back now. maybe a dodgey connection?

    thanks.

Glad that everything is OK now... Alcohol 120 has been known to cause (or at least be a contributing factor for) the issue you were experiencing....
