my d drive not working properly

    my dvd /cd drive will recognise cd discs and play them but does not recognise or play the dvd discs. this is a new problem because it all has been fine up till recently. Has anyone got any ideas where to start fixing this? Please assume that I am a complete beginner when posting replies Thank you in advance

    What are you using to play DVDs? Have you tried opening the player first, clicking on File the open disk and pointing it to the DVD drive?

    Did you recently update anything before it stopped working? If so maybe try rolling back.
