I have a confusing problem with my email images, any input would be helpful. I use Comcast, I have 3 email boxes, 2 associated with my log in one with my husbands. In my primary email box around 3 weeks ago all my images began showing with a small box and the words image blocked, right clicking on this and hitting view image leads me to this- Page Not Found
The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it
This occurs on 4 different machines I have tried on, Vista or XP, my home or my sisters home. If I download my mail into Office or Incredimail the images are there. If I pull the mail into Gmail the images are there. Comcast says contact my computer manufacturer for support and closed my help ticket. Both of the other 2 email boxes display images. The only info I have gathered from Comcast is that each mailbox is coming from a different server and that they say my Comcast email is a "free service" all I pay them for is connectivity. Any ideas?

It depends on you email reader.

Most email readers have a security setting that blocks auto open of none text object.

Most email reader setting can be set to stop the blocking.

If this is the setting you are referring to

Choose how to display email messages containing HTML. [?]
Display HTML in the body of email
List HTML as an attachment only (recommended for security)

I have chosen display HTML in the body of email, in any case since my log on for e mail contains 2 mailboxes and the problem only affects 1 of them I'm not seeing how a setting could be the issue.

It depends on you email reader.

if you use Incredimail, You wouldnot experience such things.but hiding images is usefull one .because some SPAMS includes porn Images.

Would someone please explain what you mean by email reader, Comcast is web mail, and until this problem started I very rarely pulled it off the server.

by email reader, they mean, what software are you using to retrieve email if you are downloading your email to your computer? In other words, is your email service enabled for POP mail so that you can download mail to your computer? Are you using Outlook Express or something else?

I'm going to use the term, email client, rather than email reader. I think you need to confirm whether you are, indeed, using any email client, or are you working only with web-based mail? In other words, are you only accessing your email via your web browser?

In the case of the blocked images this is only happening when I use the web based mail on the browser, Comcast, specifically with only the one email box, and there are two e mail boxes associated with that log in, it does not happen on both email boxes, and if I use software such as Microsoft Outlook or Incredimail to download the mail the images are there. It does not matter what browser or computer I use I still have the same results Comcast support says this is a problem somehow with my computer. I can't see how but they closed my support ticket with a reference to contact my computer manufacturer. The only semi useful info I did get from them is that each of my 3 mailboxes comes from a different server.

Let me add also this is not a problem with any other web based mail client, images show on Gmail etc.

I'm getting this now too in my comcast.net e-mail.

I'm not using outlook express, just their web based e-mail.

Did you ever get this resolved?

my guess is that they have implimented a security feature on their webmail (yahoo has recently, and hotmail has for a while) There might be a link somewhere in the heading of the mail to indicate this? something along the lines of "...have blocked images from being displayed, click here to view them" or somthing similar?

Hello, I'm sorry I should have posted this as resolved, to dand2000- yes it was a problem on Comcasts' end with the server somehow but it took 32 days to get it resolved and I had to create 3 support tickets for escalated support before it was fixed. Good luck and be persistent.
